Introduction:

We are from Oxford school, class 8 and 9. Child without guide will be wild!

OUR OPINION ABOUT CHILD RIGHTS

The rights given to the children for the overall development of children are called child rights. There are various child rights such as:

  • Right to education
  • Right to freedom
  • Right to shelter
  • Right to food
  • Right for clothes and so on

But in the context of Nepal, it is not implemented properly. Child labor is not allowed according to the child rights but it is seen in various parts of our country. Some of the children of our country are deprived of education, freedom, shelter, etc. So, to implement it properly in our country, the following measures should be taken;

  • Strict law should be made & implemented
  • Illiteracy should me eliminated
  • Awareness programs should me conducted
  • Gender equality

Contributions Challenge 1:

A safe home is a place where children get care, love, safety, a friendly environment etc. This is called a safe home. A safe home is very important for children and also for adults. It helps in the overall development of children. In a safe home, children can express their feelings, ideas and their views. Children should feel safe and secure from accidents and disasters and they should be treated in a friendly manner.
In the context of Nepal safe homes are not given to the earthquake victims of april 2015. They lost their parents, relatives and homes. So to provide a physically safe home the following points should be taken into account:

-          Governement should provide shelter, food, and other basic needs to the victims so they can have a safe home again.

-          Electricity wires should be checked form time to time.

-          Orphan homes should be built in order to provide a safe home to the orphans.

Feedback from: This is Hope school, we will love to know more about  Nepal and it's home conditions. We think it is true that the government should be paying for the children's basic rights like shelter food and etc.Thank you for all your information.

Contributions Challenge 2:

We choose to write a letter to Urmila together. It is represented below:

3rd of May, 2015
Pokhara, Nepal

Dear Urmila,

We are the Everest group of Learning Circle (A project from the Netherlands). We are very happy to be in this project. With the help of the learning circle, we got an opportunity to know what bad activities happenend with you in the past.

We know that, when you were 6, you were give up to the rich family to work without any salary due to the poor economic conditions of your family. We heard that your work was really hard. You used to take care of the children en and grandparents of the family and do stuff in the house. We know your owners tortured you. They used to talk rudely with you and even you didn't make any mistake, they poured hot water on your body.

We think you couldn't get proper child rights in your childhood because of which you have to face such a big problems and difficulties. You shouldn't give up in any situation of your live. We have some questions for you:

1. How did you face the problems in your kamalari days?

2. What is the name of the other organizations that rescued you and provided you freedom?
3. What struggles did you have to face to get freedom?
4. Who is the founder of the organization that rescued you?
5. Where are you living now? In Nepal or elsewhere?
6. Did your owner take care of you when you were sick?
7. Did you over-stress, when you had a lot of work?
8. What did you feel when you got relief from your owners prison?

We are waiting for your reply, thank you

From Everest Group:
Bhidhan, Kapil, Labin, Dipendra, Binita, Safalta, Jeevan and Sushmita.

Feedback from: This is Hope school and we like the way you present your question. we like your story about the information about the child who was sold to a rich family and was tortured because the family felt like it. So thank you for sharing your story with us.

To the GPT jury,

Hello, It’s we, the Everest group of the learning circle of Oxford School. Our group consists of 8 members. We feel very happy to be in this project. We meet Naniti Glas who is our teacher of learning circle for helping us to complete this project. We are very thankful that we got the opportunity to be her students.

We start our project from 1st week of April. We think that, this project plays a vital role for every children of the world which helps them to achieve their rights.

In this project we learned about the importance of children rights, safe home, right to education and play etc. In this project we knew the conditions of children in Syria and other countries too. We were enjoying the challenges and assignments which were given to us by learning circle project. We read the letters written by the students of other countries from which we knew the laws which are made for children. We liked all the letters written by others and we liked and feel enjoy when we gave feedback to the letters of our foreign friends. After completion of challenge 1, we were given another assignment in which we learned about the Nepalese girl named Urmila Chaudary who was not getting proper child right which was our challenge 2 in which we have to write a letter to Urmila to ask questions about her life. In this challenge we learned that Urmila as well as many children of our country are out of their rights. We learned a new way of giving feedback to other letters. When the students of Holland came to our school they described their daily activities of whole day and danced and sang.

The learning circle programme is one of the most important programme for students of every country, so it should be run up to future generations also.

Evaluation:

We feel very happy that we are chosen as a members of learning circle project. We are very lucky that we got an opportunity to meet and learn with Nanette Glas . We learnt many things like ; importance of child rights, safe home, etc. This project helped us to know about the bad condition of children in Syria.

In this project, there are many good things that we like. We like the way of uploading videos, photos, letters, etc. which helps to learn new things. We like the way of giving feedback to other friend’s ideas. We felt very happy when we met the students, teachers and founders of learning circle projects.

To improve this project, children counselling institutions should be launched in national & international level. This type of projects should be established in more number of country’s schools to provide knowledge of child rights, safe home & so on. Donation programmes for children which are deprived of child rights can also be launched to improve this project. More assignments can also be added about children. Awareness can be provided through this project to improve this project. And many more ideas can be generated to improve this project.
