Ik was weg.                                                              I was gone.

Maar ik keerde terug.                                               but I returned.

Ondanks de pech en de zware bagage.                  Despite the bad luck and the heavy baggage

Die ik met mij meedroeg op mijn rug.                      carried with me on my back.

Hervond ik ’t veilige thuis,                                        I refound 't safe at home,

De uit het oog verloren vriend.                                the  friend I lost in sight.
